Online Therapy FAQs – Ontario & British Columbia
Anxiety, Self-Esteem & People-Pleasing Support in Ontario & BC
Getting Started
Do you offer online therapy in Ontario and British Columbia? +
Yes. I offer secure online therapy to clients located in Ontario and British Columbia. Because licensing rules vary by province, therapy is available to clients who are physically located in Ontario or BC at the time of session.
How do I book a free consultation? +
You can book a free consultation through my online booking link. Consultations are short and low-pressure — a chance to share what’s bringing you in, ask questions, and get a feel for whether we’re a good fit.
What happens in the first therapy session? +
We’ll start with what’s been going on lately and what you’re hoping will change. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to understand your history, patterns, and what helps (and doesn’t). We’ll move at a pace that feels manageable, and we’ll leave the first session with a clear plan for what we’re focusing on together.
How does online therapy work? +
Sessions happen by secure video. You’ll join from a private space with a stable internet connection. I’ll guide the session much like I would in person — including slower, more experiential work when helpful — while also making space for practical tools you can use between sessions.
Fees & Insurance
What are your fees? +
My fee is $160 per 50-minute session. You’ll receive a receipt after each session, which you may be able to submit to extended benefits for reimbursement (coverage varies by plan).
Is therapy covered by insurance in Ontario or BC? +
Often, yes — but it depends on your plan. The simplest step is to check your benefits portal or contact your provider and ask what’s covered for psychotherapy/counselling, which provider types are eligible, and what your yearly maximum is.
Do you offer direct billing? +
At this time, I do not offer direct billing. Payments are processed at the time of session and you’ll receive a detailed receipt you can submit for reimbursement if your plan allows.
Therapy Process
How often should I come to therapy? +
Most clients start with weekly sessions. Weekly therapy helps us build momentum, understand your patterns more clearly, and create enough consistency for real change to take hold.
How long does therapy take? +
It depends on what you’re working through and what you want from therapy. Some people come for short-term support around a specific situation. Others choose longer-term work to shift deeper patterns.
How many sessions does it take to see change? +
Some people notice relief within the first few sessions. Deeper patterns — like anxiety loops or self-criticism — usually shift more gradually as safety and trust build.
What approaches do you use? +
My approach is relational and experiential. Depending on your needs, sessions may include somatic work, parts work (IFS-informed), emotion-focused strategies, and practical skills for anxiety and self-trust.
Common Concerns
Can therapy help with anxiety? +
Yes. In therapy, we’ll work with both the nervous system side of anxiety and the patterns that keep it going, so you can feel steadier and more like yourself again.
Can therapy help with people-pleasing and boundaries? +
Absolutely. We’ll work on building internal safety, practicing boundaries in realistic ways, and strengthening self-trust so you can stay connected without abandoning yourself.
Can therapy help with low self-esteem or self-criticism? +
Yes. Therapy can help you understand where self-criticism came from, soften the harshness, and build a more supportive inner relationship over time.
