I wish to acknowledge the land on which I live, work, learn, and play in Tkoronto, on Turtle Island (now called North America). For thousands of years, this land has been cared for by Indigenous peoples, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabe, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat, for thousands of years. Today, it remains home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities. I also acknowledge that Tkoronto is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit and is protected by the 'Dish With One Spoon' wampum agreement, which emphasizes shared care for the land.

As a settler, I am committed to deepening my understanding of Indigenous histories and cultures, and to acknowledging the legacy of injustice and racism that continues to affect these communities.
